Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet or baking dish lined or lightly greased
  • 1 parchment paper optional for easy cleanup
  • 1 small mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk or spoon for mixing glaze
  • 1 Brush or spoon for applying glaze

Ingredients

For the salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper or to taste

For the brown sugar glaze

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted

For finishing

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 4 lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet or baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and arrange them in the prepared pan.
  • Drizzle the salmon with olive oil and season lightly with salt and black pepper.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Brush or spoon the glaze evenly over the tops of the salmon fillets.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on thickness, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.
  • For extra color, broil for 1 to 2 minutes at the end, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Let the salmon rest for 2 minutes, then spoon any pooled glaze from the pan over the top.
  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry before glazing for better caramelization. Start checking for doneness at 12 minutes to avoid overbaking. Low-sodium soy sauce can be used if preferred.
